To get your machine’s IP address, open Network Connection in Control Panel and click on Local Area Connection. Click on the Support tab, which lists out the IP Address and other addresses:
You may also click on the Details button that gives more information including the network card MAC address.
An alternative way to check the IP address is to open a DOS command prompt (Start > Run > cmd) and type the following and press enter:
Mac OS X
For Mac OS X, go to System Preferences > Network and then select the adapter on the left column, and the connection information (including IP address) is listed to the right.
